In the background vocals overdub, why they don't change the microphones too?

Did the engineer consolidate the original background track into one stereo lead track´╗┐ center and leave the double tracks mono panned left and right?

Hi Derek,

In this case, we didn't want to slow the session down.

I don't change mics for BGV overdubs very often.

Cheers!

Joel just duplicated the tracks in Pro Tools, did the overdubs and panned them opposite.

All 4 parts came out the same stereo pair, but they weren't physically consolidated so he could make gain and pan adjustments.

There were time constraints at play here,
But also because I was happy with the sounds we were getting from two great singers.
I have used those mics for people like aaron Neville and Norah Jones... I had faith that we would get what we needed even if I had to crank some EQ on them after the fact during the three passes I got to mix the track. :) peachh
