NEW! Roland System-500 Eurorack analog modular.

Time to start saving.

In addition to the Aira (semi) modular, Roland has announced the System 500 eurorack based modular.

As well as confirming the launch of the Aira Modular synth and effects range, Roland has also announced that it's working on a new modular analogue instrument known as the System-500.

Well stone the crows!

This announcement really changes everything that people have been saying about Roland, they're obviously serious about Eurorack / Analog.

SEED78 15th April 2015 09:10 AM

could be interesting!

stardustmedia 15th April 2015 09:15 AM

hell yeah heh heh heh

Septik 15th April 2015 09:16 AM

Wooweeee!! Did not see that coming! Well played guys heh

I hope they do it justice! The 700 has always been one of those too-expensive-to-justify-even-if-available synths. If they get the sound right, that'd be incredible. Not even mentioning any modern modular feature additions...

wendell r. 15th April 2015 09:30 AM

wow.

I think this makes the AIRA (semi modular) make a lot more sense now, it seemed odd releasing just the System-1m and four (digital) modules.

volumetrik 15th April 2015 09:32 AM

awesome

Acid Hazard 15th April 2015 09:33 AM

I knew they were working on something, but not a new System 500. Nice.

that wont ever happen , lets just hope they get the sound right and move back to when they had it right , get 'that ' 0ld roland sound , if they can sell these modules cheap and allow a user to create a system 100m for say £799 i think they will have done very well but thats one busy saturated market , its a nice move though , i long to see the old roland back , the aira stuff i just found to plastic fantastic paris hilton tech , just not what i relate to roland .I just really hope they dont style it like they do all their new gear and it has a look of quality like the old stuff rather than plastic hollywood.

Nice, hope its more in the 700 direction than the 100, still awesome news anyway.
About bloody time Roland!!

looks pretty "classic" to me. made in japan quality too (which is equally grand news considering they haven't done that in nearly two decades!)

That's what the TB-3030 used to be so it's kinda nod back to 80's.

On another forum someone said:"These Airas are just toys targeted to Kids and Teens".
Good reply to that would have been:"Sorry old fart, but it's kids and teens who push the envelope and not +27's" :D

Finally Roland is back. I just hope these do not cost too much.

mickbenjamins 15th April 2015 10:33 AM

Scatter in eurorack, yay!

Acid Hazard 15th April 2015 10:38 AM

A friend of mine has his hands in these, so i have every faith that they will sound wonderful!

Firechild 15th April 2015 10:40 AM

They must release the D-Beam as a eurorack module or I will look elsewhere !

fiddlestickz 15th April 2015 11:12 AM

Surely with the release of this, the System 1m, the Jxa, the Jxdi, Aria machines and mixer...surely that shuts everyone up for quite some time, including myself...kfhkh

synthdood 15th April 2015 11:25 AM

What... no marimba trill module?

Syntza 15th April 2015 11:37 AM

Roland is back again kfhkh. This time with full VCO and it also looks good too. Those Moog inspired knobs, yeah. Well done Roland! This gives me the good feeling what the old Roland was about and what they started with!

Aira modular? System 500? Which is this one now? I'm confused confoosed

soundxplorer 15th April 2015 11:58 AM

If you notice the "M" at the bottom of the 500 series, that is Malekko. Apparently Roland did a very smart thing and decided to work with a high-quality, established Eurorack manufacturer to get things done right. Congrats Malekko, this is pretty big news! And the modules look great!
