SPDIF Inputs Not Active in Audio Setup?

Have a Kemper which works fine connected via SPDIF in Cubase, Pro Tools, etc, trying a demo out of S1 when I add an input in audio setup there are only grey squares which I can't activate...anyone know what dumb thing I'm doing? I'm using an Apogee Element on Mac.

Have you hit the apply button? It's weird, but you won't get a normal input to show until you do, it'll just stay dim.

LOL.

Weird.

Have you tried making it a stereo input instead of dual mono?

What happens if you move your working outputs over to the same optical outs? Just wondering if your optical outs are off limits for some reason.

My S/PDIF input is set up as stereo and dual mono. Works as expected.
