Like within 2 weeks?
I was suddenly given psychic abilities to know that, but it stopped before I could get the lottery numbers .
j/k

It's going to be paid of course. Will I get mine now or Black Friday? Last upgrade I had to wait, and that didn't hurt; the time flies by.

I've heard that in order to operate it, you have to wear a mask, pass a temperature check and sit 6 feet away from the tracks, or face a public firing/cancelling squad.

That would be maddening if not only I was unable to record a live firing squad, but to also be the target of said firing squad might result in less than my best optimism

Reported to the proper authorities. Officers of your local Thought Police agency will be visiting soon for this unsanctioned, flagrant disregard of our brave Technocratic Priesthood.

You're in dire need of immediate behaviour modification and social cohesion measures.

Actually there is something(on forums). As I understood, it's from BTs. They can't tell details due to NDA, but they gave some hints here and there:
1)MPE support
2)All native plugs updated
3)New time stretch algorithm - Tape
4)Key switches
5)Integrated note editor
6)AUX channels for hardware
7)Lots of different big and small new features for scenes and live mixing in general
8)New midi controller(Atom SQ - whatever it means)
9)Clip gain edit(like in PT)

So far, these are the features that are implemented for sure.

There is also rumor about Midi 2.0.

It seems this time they were focused more on PT's and Cubase's user bases.

S1 will need full surround support eventually to move into the film and game markets - freelance sound design and scoring at least. We still have to deliver ProTools sessions most of the time, and that isn't likely to change to any other DAW, but some work can still be done outside of PT. I will be interested to see if v5 delivers, or if surround is still a ways off.

This is going to be interesting.

Wonder what they mean by clip gain? S1 already does this.

Auxs for hardware is interesting too.

Built in Notion would be great. I'd like it if it were more integrated.

I assume it's about drawing inside of a clip. Just like in PT. For now you can make fades and general gain reduction of a clip, in the update it's probably something like clip automation.

Yes, finally after some years, it was about time.
Now I can look for some new MPE controller the next months.
One thing I hope they will do; a better implementation of adding new gear into Studio One.
Now I have to add it if I use something new, why?
In Ableton my gear simply comes up in the list on a midichannel without adding new hardware.
About a new Atom; I hope that it's something with a screen like Push2, makes it simple to slice samples.
When it's something with a touchscreen (like the MPC One) that would be fantastic for drawing automation and curves in the ADSR and also midi.

I'd buy Studio One 5 if the GUI text quality improved. I like lots of things about S1 except its poor fonts.

I hate the color palette too. Really hope they address this.

From the looks of it, updated stock plugins and Atom SQ, couldn’t see any single change in GUI or new buttons really so we’ll see whats up later...

If that image showing the eq plug is true it looks like they have the input and output meters on the plugs. Cool, I requested that on their forums a bit ago. The stock plugs in previous versions only showed input meters. It's good to see exactly how much you've altered the gain when using eq etc.

Not hearing MPE yet.

I'm disappointed. I don't think I got anything on my wishlist, and they start walking the Avid trail towards a subscription model.

Actually, notation in S1 will be nice.

Mpe is included

NEW! Poly pressure and MPE support.
Studio One 5 now supports note controllers
for more expressive playback of musical
performances using virtual instruments
and orchestral libraries. Note controllers
affect individual notes, in multiple
dimensions if needed. This includes support
for MIDI Poly Pressure and MPE (MIDI
Polyphonic Expression) with compatible
MIDI hardware and virtual instruments.

Thank You.

I was searching for something like this on their site.

Sync to MTC. That is nice.

NEW! Marker Track Inspector. New in Version 5, the Marker Track now features a marker list inside the Track Inspector that lets you navigate, rename, add, and delete markers in one convenient location.

This may be a great new feature, if it can be used like the PT marker box.

NEW! Aux Channels.

Dust off that TX81Z! Your classic MIDI synths can now be incorporated into your digital productions as easily as virtual instruments. The Aux Channel is a new channel type that allows any external audio source to be fed into the Studio One® mixer without the need to create an audio track that clutters your session. Add external instruments directly from the Studio One Browser using drag-and-drop.

========

I wonder how they deal with hardware latency & MIDI sync vs. plugin delay compensation for the new Aux Channels. No DAW that I know of has really got that right yet in a consistent & solid way.

Upgrade from pro to S1 5 is $149

Sphere is $164

I really don't need all that stuff, but there will be a notion upgrade at some point, and that will cost something.

I really hate the subscription model, but this may be cheaper if there will be annual major version updates.

Anyway, I don't see anything that says I have to surrender my current version of S1 if I did the sphere thing.
