100th Anniversary of the Emperor of Crime, "Fantômas"

In February 1911, Pierre Souvestre & Marcel Allain published the novel
"Fantômas". In 1913, the first "Fantômas" film was made, directed by Louis Feuillade.
It was a sensation. The Surrealists and the French avant garde were big fans of Fantômas.

There are a lot of things happening around this time with Fantomaniacs.
There were two events in San Francisco in April. I spoke at one. My music
was played at both. There's another one in Paris in 2013. Plays are being
staged in various places. One will include a waltz I composed.
There is a movie with Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel that might hit the theaters in 2012.

In the mid-1990's, I composed a piece called the "The Fantômas Waltz"
on my Kawai K1. It's grew into a quartet of songs.

#4 'The Mystery of Nostalgia'.

The title comes from the poet Guillame Apollinaire, founder of
the Friends of Fantômas Society in 1914 & suspect accused of stealing
the Mona Lisa. He also invented the word 'surrealism'.)

He titled two Georgio deChirico paintings, 'the Mystery and Melancholy of a Street
and "Nostalgia of the Infinite'. I combined the two titles or 'the Mystery of Nostalgia.

#3 (Probably the best, the Funeral March of Fantômas), a funeral march based on my waltz.

#2 Shag a'la Fantômas, a surf tune based on my waltz. (My arch-top w/tremolo sounds so good here.)

The seed composition was the Fantômas Waltz. This is the 1990's original, updated
by explosions from my Korg M3m. I think the explosions sound pretty good.
But I've never made a good recording of this song.
