DSM v2 automation problems

Hi.
I have the DSM on my DX re-assign tracks.
I have trouble with automating the capture setting of the program.
It dosnt seem to store the specific capture in the protools automation.

Anyone experienced this?

If I'm not mistaken, it doesn't do that. But you can automate preset changes and a preset "contains" the curve.

Thanks Erik!

automate preset changes and a preset "contains" the curve.
So you dont automate the curve when you use it?
I thought that I need to capture a ref of dialog in every scene/slate.
then lowering the threshold for evening out the other sound to match better.

how is your workflow?

Compression basically. I don't use it to adapt frequency although it can be used to do that sort of, but I really don't use it that way. I EQ before hitting the DSM. But yes it will affect spectral content a bit.
I use a modified pink noise curve. And then I adapt it using the three band curve filters when needed.

Check their FAQs. The cite a limitation of their plugins that nearly every other manufacturer would consider a bug and fix.

I installed the demo and thought I automated every parameter on a 25m show that Im mixing.

Now l have to go back and fix every scene usig the same compression curve.

Is that the pink profile in the preset menu that you have modified?

Yes and no. I started with that, then I tried using another pink noise that Zi pre filtered using external EQ prior to capture.
The drawback is that the threshold then has very little in common to regular program level if you don't take care to capture it at a regular program level.
I'm not saying this is THE way to do it. It's just what I do at the moment and gives me results I like.
