Slight hollow sound to Tascam DR-40

Have mixed some audio obtained via Tascam DR-40 and some by an old camera. The news host's voice is from the Tascam. The guest speaker is from the old camera. Any way to remove the background hiss / hum from the guest speaker? I have tried de-noising it, high pass, de-essing it, several other things. Nothing really works. Was going to re-record the voice, but I didn't know if I could recapture the character.

Regarding the Tascam, it sounds just a bit hollow. Not bad, I guess. Just a bit. Would sound quilts / cushioned moving blankets hung on the walls fix this?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
