Film deliverables question - quickie....

I'm staring at a deliverables list, and everything is clear on it except one item:

'DVD-R of the Pro Tools sessions of the English version picture Dialogue, Music and Effects 4 track mono split'

Elsewhere on the list it has asked me for stereo DME tracks, which is fine, but 4 track mono? Last thing I heard Mono was one track! Or do they mean a mono of each?

Thanks for any advice here....

I suppose they mean "two separate mono files" for each stereo element.
E.g.
Dialog.L.wav
Dialog.R.wav
So you can use these files in a PT session directly, without conversion.
Cheers

Could be but they asked for the stereo elements as a different item on the list and I'm already delivering them as split monos.

It could also be referring to LCRS although you'd think they would specify that differently. My best suspicion right now is that it's just actual mono DME files, and the 4th referred to is a non-existent 'N'.

I've never seen it before, but maybe they do want mono'd files of all the stems? Possibly in case it gets redubbed/broadcast in some strange far off country where stereo is still ten years off??

I would just ring them to clarify... but it sounds like a not-too-unreasonable, if odd, thing to ask for.

I think they mean put neopilot on track 4.

They want mono DME plus the mono english.

Dialog mono
effects mono
music mono
english mix mono

this is usually so they can add it in a 4 track digibeta/beta SP and send it off to whatever country or TV station still uses mono for promos. or clients that ask for mono. if they need mono source they cant just grab the left track..
what happens if there is something/someone panned to the right!!?!
its fairly common delivery.

it varies. the above are fine. i work in this side of post so i get and senda lot and some weird stuff.
funniest: mono mix minus M&E.

think about that one for a second....
yes.. its dialog+narration stem.

and i probably get your stuff icedworld3!
what shows u work on?

fox nbc and disney and sony use the most "normal" for deliverables.
for tapes as well of course. (and they are the big boys)

but those specs sheets aren't getting any easier either w the HD stuff.
oh well, better for some i guess.

I work at a lab here in Mexico , we do all the film processing and printmastering for fox titles that have distribution in Latin America so the list is large haha. We produce the 4 mono materials when we work in the LAS vesion of a movie and then they are sent to the US.
