In better news, our live room is now pretty big!

Before the wall came down, I estimated it at about 570sqft. I was quite a way off! It actually measures in at just over 620sqft!

This is the new opening for the live room door, its going to be a very big door! Easily big enough to get a Grand Piano into the live room!

I had a bit of a mishap today, I used a set of steps to get high enough to move an alarm sensor.

Next thing I knew, i was on the floor!

I think the ladders came off worse though!
Hope you're not too sore after your ladder mishap, G! Keep safe.

All looking fantastic, the live room looks even more spacious than I envisaged. Sorry I'm not there to see it all happening!

Maybe the photo is a bit misleading, but how wide is that door? Looking at the ladder how are you gonna ride a grand through there?

The grand will go through the door on its side, with the legs detached.

The 620sqft is all recording space.

The booth is 65sqft which is also a nice size.

That would be handy when you have bad constipation.

PS: Nice progress on the build!

Treatment stud built today, this is for Recording Architecture "50/50" treatment.

We also did some platerboarding on the far wall which is on the left hand side of the photo.

This is the outer part of the new doorway, its built asolutely plum ready to take the new ash doorframe. This new stud also now carries the ceiling. When we demolished the wall to make the new opening, the ceiling had no support on one side!

We made the decision to fit ducted aircon into the live room and booth. I went to the CNC machine shop and have seven aircon attenuators on order!

Sorry it's only an iPhone pic, but who thinks that brushed aluminium would be a nice finish for perforated panels in the live room?

Sure, great, we are making all of the backs of our movable gobo's out of brushed stainless steel.

Our CNC people are plastics specialists, it is brushed aluminium bonded to a black perspex. They can bond this to MDF (we will probably go with black colour core mdf to keep the layers black behind the aluminium) then put it on a CNC router to cut the holes.

Aahh, we have looked into this product to make our studio and CR doors look like stainless, we haven't decided yet but it seems a great and easy to use product since you can stick it to anything.

very impressive console and gear list at analog baby. Just wondering how the low frequencies are managed acoustic-treatment-wise. I haven't read the whole thread (will hopefully find time to), but did manage to see, I think the control room pics and it looked like the blocks were laid onto rubber and then the slab poured inside the walls directly over the old slab. IS this correct or did I not see properly?
It's a huge project, probably costing a lot of money, and I thought I'd seen a few little acoustical curiosities there, which I'm hoping I'm wrong about/did not see properly.
All the best with the project.
Looks really great.

I use the formica (metal lam) version for bar's and reception desk and it dose look really good but we normally only use as decorate banding (rebate in to dark wood looks fab) as it can scratch quite easy. But I would not think it will get to much ware as panel backs but your better judge of that than me. (try rubbing the samples with bilo pad and see)

The low frequency is managed by Recording Architecture membrane absorbers. You can see them going up if you read back through the thread.

The walls are solid concrete blocks, lay on there sides. They sit on Tico absorption strip which is made specially for the load. They require the engineering calculations of the structure before making it.

The concrete slab is poured on top of a dpm layer that is in turn on top of a layer of 100mm RW9 rockwool. The slab is therefore floating independently from the walls which are in turn de-coupled from the sub floor.

Hope that answers your concernes?

We have followed the RA plan to the letter.

They will be up on the ceiling so I'm sure they will not get scratched!
