There are 5 of these ceiling panels in the control room, Graham added extra noggins to the lower part of the ceiling before fitting their foot plates.

Now that all the fixings are in place, tomorrow, Louie and I can paint the wood black ready for Graham to fit fabric panels.

Here for the gear

New to the forum and first post, but I have to say chaps, you are building a work of art there in Liverpool. I haven't gone through the entire posting but just the use of materials (American Black walnut wall panels) tells me how much thought, and, in the words of Kevin McCloud(Grand Designs), love, you're putting into it that build. Best regards and best of luck with the rest of the build

Me and Louie went back to black today and painted the new ceiling studs.

Tomorrow all of the bare wood edges will need to be spray painted black so that nothing at all will be seen once the fabric goes up.

Ha, the monitor decca tree had to have been an acoustic nightmare though, surely? Tried two monitors once and it didn't work for me, though I've always been tempted to build them into the front wall under the TV screen.
Haven't been back to Liverpool for several years so looking forward to flying halfway round the world to see some family members.
Thank you for the offer to let me pop around!! I'll definitely give you a PM when I'm there. Unless you'll be on holiday?

Flooring looks unbelievable BTW. Even amongst the gear porn headed by the 88RS, those bamboos are sticking out. Don't want to admit to the pun...

TO be honest the top two monitors were well out of the way of the speakers and it didnt seem to affect it too much.

We had the advantage of having an in house world class mix engineer who could compensate for any acoustic issues.

Yes the bamboo is cool! Glad you like it!

Oh and we dont have holidays! ha ha ha

Me and Louie did loads of painting today. We decided to paint the insides of the foam stud timber black so that nothing at all will be seen through the fabric panels when they go up.

As you can see, it worked really well, it looks a lot better and there are no nasty contrasting white areas showing.

There was a lot of great gear in that old control room. Weiss converters, a Teletronix LA2, Neve 33609, loads of API gear, Sony C-800G...that's just scratching the surface! Also a custom built volume knob handmade by Greg and Graham that was wired into the back of the D/A (which is just too cool!) You can see it in this picture, just to the right of the DM2000.

Oh and of course Andy's guitar and amp collection which is all err...rubbish that I'd be glad to take off his hands heh (though the words prise, cold, dead and fingers spring to mind)

Ahh yes the famous knob! I'll take a picture of my knob tomorrow and post it up for all to see! Gra spent a long time working it into that shape, and don't forget all the work that Andy Stokes put in buffing it up to such a high sheen!
