Hi Andy:
By another Artic, you mean a boat or a sea drilling platform?

Where I live, it means a plane due way north (polar bear country)...

(happy birthday , one day later in Canada)

Artic in the UK means an articulated lorry ...

And cheers for the birthday greetings

I'd love to go over to Canada mate.... I love that country !!!!!

In the words of Borat - "Wa-wa-wee-wah!"

Looks like I missed out on all the hard work this week. You guys have done an amazing job! Can't wait to see the finished product. Another outstanding feature in an outstanding studio.

No, we dont have black walnut in the UK, we have common walnut but its not the same.

You can find a list of what we do have here:

We kicked off today by grinding off all of those metal L brackets that hold the foam stud up............

As you cant see, they are gone!

The next stage for the control room is the fabric frames but first we have to plan how the perforated panels are going to hang below them. There are five panels that go up on the ceiling that look like this............

Batons are attached, these are placed under where a M10 bar foot plate will screw up. The foot plate will screw through the fabric, trapping it against the baton beneath...................

At the highest part if the room, Graham has extended the ladder frame to make it easier to suspend the panels, and as he is very good at compound mitre cuts it will make it a lot easier to make and fit the fabric panels........

Gra went on to take lots of measurements and angles for the fabric frames.

I had to foot the ladder at this point as he was up and down every couple of minutes! We dont want any mishaps!!!!!

On monday a scafold will be going back up to make everything a lot easier!

Spending that extra $$ for the black walnut was well worth it, IMO. Just beautiful!

Graham finished the stud modifications today. He fitted the foot plates that hold the perforated panels up. The beautiful chrome foot plates have a threaded hole in them into which we screw M10 bar, the panels are then suspended below.

It's a shame that the foot plates will be covered by the fabric panels as they really are beautiful!

We tried a panel for size and position, it's looking more and more like a Recording Architecture room every day!!!!

(let's hope it sounds like one!!)
