The old Plastic doors are going

I've decided

I cannot leave the old plastic doors from old reception to the live room area and the plastic doors from old reception into the dry booth ( what was our old control room back in the day )

They look totally ****e........

Considering the class joinery going on here etc I'm commissioning Graham into manufacturing new bespoke doors leading into these areas.......

The main studio doors/frames from the lobby into the new room are totally amazing as is the new door and frame from new reception into the machine room- Graham made these doors and frames and I can tell you there are none better ANYWHERE

I want to mirror image the quality throughout hence the new doors going in........ We'll keep you all posted.......

Thanks for looking

The SP2 upgrade adds a further 48x8 bus matrix which can be monitored, trimmed and summed. So you can use the 48 multitrack busses to build a further 6, 8 wide (7.1) stems which can then be monitored, recorded or summed.

It has PEC/DIRECT switches so that you can easily switch between the stems that are coming into the desk live and stems returning from protools which is massively useful when overdubbing or when comparing live music to a composers pre-dubs.

It also has four 48 input 2 track mixers for producing stereo down-mixes from stems or also for sending even more cue mixes to headphones.

The upgrade also adds music, dialog and effects faders which enable dialogue and effects stems to be monitored with the music mix.

The monitoring becomes 7.1 wide instead of 5.1 wide.

It is a massive upgrade!

It's a shame that we loose the compressor controls from the centre section but it does give us a spot for the TC M6000 icon, Lexicon Larc and Bricasti M10!!!
Clear answer and to the point. Thanks
Keep up the great work.

Indeed you do!!!!

No sooner do you get the glass clean and streak free, dust settles on it!!!

On the skylights they look a little odd with the frosting on the furthest away piece, kind of like your looking into a box. I have asked a friend of mine who is a specialist window tinter to come have a look with a view to tinting the first piece with a translucent purple film, but with the Analogue Baby logo cut out of the film.

I think the effect would look amazing and also take away the "looking into a box" feel.........

yes But ??

Yes mate

But as long as this doesn't take valuable natural daylight from the room itself???

We need a discussion

Windows

G

Remember we need to finish the windows off with some Oak like the big window....

Once this is done and wrapped round the edges this will give a different feel to the window anyway.....

I need Graham to measure for the Oak, he may have some material left from the larger window he did....

Lets have a chin-wag before we doing anything- I'm a little concerned about tinting anything else, natural daylight is more important than any cosmetic look in my opinion....

We have had Lee McMahon down helping today. Lee is a friend of Tony and Josh's who is also a LIPA student in his final year. Lee is a really nice guy who has been working in a studio all summer back in his native Northern Ireland. Its great to have such a great team of people around who are willing to put the effort in now and not just waiting for us to open.

Lee seemed to be a little overwhelmed by the room, which is always nice!

heh

We start out by running the cable for the rear surround speakers (after I call ATC to check which end goes in the amps and which end in the speaker )

Then it was on the the task of packing compressed rockwool around the skylight frames and aircon attenuators. Once packed they can be siliconed up.

You can get a little "mastic happy" when building a studio! I have become paranoid about jonts and tiny gaps and have developed a bit of an obsession!

Not a bad thing though really! heh

Thanks Greg for the kind words!

I had a truly great time today at the studio helping the lads out. It's coming along leaps and bounds.

This facility is going to be one of the best in the country - the incredible attention to detail and one of the most enviable gearlists around really sets it apart. (not to mention the local cafe is ace!)

I simply cannot wait to get back up there.
