I would have placed an order for one then and there if I could!

Fortunately we were given some insight by the most qualified man on the planet!

It was amazing being able to talk to Robin. He's one of the friendliest people you'll ever meet and very open and willing in answering questions. It was also a bit of a fantasy come true to have a snoop around the Neve workshop! There are some really cool things going on. The Genesys is really great. Literally every eventuality is catered for. There are also plenty of cool little features that make it a lot of fun - the mix buss insert blend knob and the widener controls over the reverb returns for example. Seems like the perfect desk for a small mix room. I've heard really good things about the quality of the optional AD/DA too so it looks like it could be used for location work (plus a 32 channel only draws about 400W!) I want one. My birthday's coming up soon...

As for the 88...I'm a bit lost for words to be honest. It's an incredible piece of kit. The sheer amount of thought and attention that has gone into the design and build is staggering. All I know is I can't wait to hear it!

Lucky you. I've meet Robin at the AES when the Genesys came out. Great person. But my heart goes with the 88RS...need to buy a extra lottery ticket today.

Panel

Hi mate

The compressor is a 5.1 unit that we had built within the original centre section.... Because we upgraded to the SP2 Scoring panel there was no room to house this within the desk, neve have now provided us the rack mount equivalent of this 5.1 unit this unit is brought up on the patch for the desk also.

The SP2 upgrade is a serious up grade, don't quote me as Gregs the man to ask, but this gives you another 48 sereo mix buses as well as everything a scoring engineer needs to direct inject speech into a film mix....

All I know is this cost the equivalent to a brand new Porsche 911 turbo !!!!!

No joke.....

The SP2 transforms an already capable desk to a desk that sets it apart from any desk in the world......

Hey cheers bud for your interest !!!

Have a good weekend, and other questions refer to Bassjam he's my technical director, he's well clued for a young lad :-)

Best

Andy

As standard the 88RS has 1 LCR mix bus, a LS and RS mix bus and 4 stereo mix buses.

The SP2 upgrade adds a further 48x8 bus matrix which can be monitored, trimmed and summed. So you can use the 48 multitrack busses to build a further 6, 8 wide (7.1) stems which can then be monitored, recorded or summed.

It has PEC/DIRECT switches so that you can easily switch between the stems that are coming into the desk live and stems returning from protools which is massively useful when overdubbing or when comparing live music to a composers pre-dubs.

It also has four 48 input 2 track mixers for producing stereo down-mixes from stems or also for sending even more cue mixes to headphones.

The upgrade also adds music, dialog and effects faders which enable dialogue and effects stems to be monitored with the music mix.

The monitoring becomes 7.1 wide instead of 5.1 wide.

It is a massive upgrade!

It's a shame that we loose the compressor controls from the centre section but it does give us a spot for the TC M6000 icon, Lexicon Larc and Bricasti M10!!!

The Oak architraves were fitted today, they are looking great! Joiner Gra made them with returns on them which hide the meranti window stops. When you look through the window now all you can see is Oak! its great!

I just have to talk Andy into letting us use American Black Wallnut for the rear diffuser in the control room now!

Louie, Tony and Josh did a massive amount of foaming too! We are getting there!!!!
