Thanks!

Shame that they won't be seen! They will be hidden by the next stage of treatment

We are going through timber like it's going out of fashion!

Is that some sort of limp mass material you guys are using on the panels or just black fabric?

I can tell you that it is not just permeable black fabric, I can also tell you that the physics of how they work is very very interesting!

Unfortunately I can't tell you any more details on the bass traps due to a non disclosure agreement with Roger.

I can tell you that if you want to know every little detail about how they work and how to make them yourself then you need to buy this:

108 pounds for a pre order. Here I go considering ANOTHER monster acoustics/physics book purchase. Will it make me that much smarter or that much more of a slow poke to make acoustics decisions...

It is full of actual designs and methods, not just calculations and theory.

All of the RA acoustic treatment has been able to be constructed by us and our contractors on site, following the RA design principles. I think that £108 is well worth it if someone wanted to improve a room or decide on a design on a new room.........

I wish our plans would have cost £108!

You can tell me that is not black fabric. Can you tell me that it is not a limp mass? Just kiddib.

Looks Like Roofing Felt to me.

Paule Whites book, creative recording three, describes this type of absorber.
This approach has been around for quite a while(as has this book!)

I can assure you its not roofing felt!

its more of a thin, flexible
polymeric material loaded
with heavy salts!

I hear that its used by ferrari and porsche quite a lot, not sure what they use it for though...........................

Also, no one has claimed that its a new approach! I am just going along with what I have agreed to do which is not reveal every little detail about the acoustic design, I hope you all understand?

Roofing felt ???

Errrrr no mate, not roofing felt......

Buy Rogers book, it will save people a fortune, Roger is the man, in the top 3 in the world I reckon.... If he said go and use roofing felt we would have used it, but alas it's
not roofing felt.

But if you think it is and that's the solution we used, go for it mate..... Build your bass traps out of roofing felt you won't be the first that's tried I'm sure....

Hi,

Thanks for clearing that up and sorry if I sounded rude.

It just looked like what I have used in the past.

The principal seams the same, its just different materials.

Great place you are putting together by the way!

I would assume that Ferrari and Porsche use it to reduce road and/or engine noise in the cockpit.
