My own mix & overdub-studio

I am moving into Sander vd Heide his "new building". You can read more about the building & Sander his new mastering room in this thread:
https://www.gearslutz.com/board/photo...therlands.html

While working on his new room, Sander used to work in the controlroom that is now becoming my mixroom. At that time the room looked like this;

ControlRoom size: length is 5,03 m (16,5 ft)
width is 5,90 m (19,35 ft) in the back, 5,40 m (17,7 ft) in the front
hight is 3,73 m (12,23 ft) in the middle of the room

Big basstraps in the back of the room. (btw; the door leads to his machineroom, wich I will change into a overdubroom)

This was his machineroom:

I have been working on these rooms for the last 10 days with friends.

allright... so I wanted to turn the machineroom into an overdub-room where I would be able to record vocals, guitars etc etc

Stripping the basstraps

Stripping the floor (notice the spot/lit where I can put cables underground to the dubroom)
The red rolls are "underfloor" they will form an extra layer on top of the "Silent Floor"

Cable-tunnel before cleaning etc

The control room is already isolated with double doors, multiple layers of glass for the window and double (stone)walls.
The former machineroom does have double walls, but just one door on each side. So we are going to add an extra door where you go to the controlroom. And we are adding an extra (absorbtion) wall near the other door (to the hallway).

Good friend Ronnie working his a$$ of;

Bring in nice floor:

Three layers of rockwool:

After we stripped the controlroom we started with some new colour ;-)

Backside with stripped traps/absorbtion on the top. All the white panels at the bottom are from wood and they contain rockwool.
The white panels in the middle are V-shaped into the room; althoug it's difficult to see the full impact at these pictures.

Glad you like it.
The light on the pics is quite harsh... But it will become warmer once the spots are installed (and the big construction light leaves )

I am working on absorbtion right now, but I want to avoid some obvious "looks" and try to incorporate some "functionality" into design/atmosphere. You will see...

Absorbtion for the dubroom.

You can still see the rockwool from the absorberwall. We are going to cover that with frames with the same purple fabric as in the controlroom.

If it is , that's a good thing .

Just imagine , you're hungry . So you give yourself a break , stop that mixing project take your sheets from the wall and guess what ... lets bake some muffin !

As soon you're done eating , wash and put them back to the walls .

;-)

Multi purpose studio treatment !

First "seating for clients"

Trying to figure out in wich order I should put my gear in the new racks;

I want to keep one flighcase, so I am still able to bring gear to recordings I do in other studio's (since mine is just for mixing and overdubs)

wow, that's just crazy to use koch cabinets as bass traps! VERY nice and original. You probably got the cabs at a good price, right? Otherwise you wouldn't do such a thing, haha
