Your place will be amazing!

You made my day - now I can go to bed with a bottle of wine and a smile on my face.

Thanks!

Last couple of days of work - should be moving to the new place around Thursday / Friday. The interior fabric might take a couple of weeks, depending on whether the fabric is in stock or needs to be ordered. There'll also be a few minor things to finish but i've got sessions booked in the new place from next tuesday onwards so gotta get on with it!

The climbing wall is coming along nicely!

Looooong day yesterday, started 8:00, finished 04:00..........but, everything is now moved (we needed a Landrover with a winch to get the B&W800N's up the stairs!). Tomorrow, new furniture for the lounge arrives and we'll make the first tentative setup, ready to do 5 albums next week!

The guys from Brussels are booked to install the fabric on the 15th December........apparently it'll take around 4 days!

I had about an hour of listening today with the B&W800N's / Hypex 700 / Avocet combination.

Unfortunately a large part of the day was wasted ironing out some technical hiccups caused by the move.

Anyway, i was rather stunned / shocked by what i heard. The best way i can describe it is to say it's like you spent years looking at the world through a distorting lens, where perspective was slightly twisted, images were not quite in focus and colors not exactly true to life. You knew something was wrong, but had no way of knowing what reality actually was, having never experienced it! And then suddenly the lens is removed and what you suspected is confirmed!

Also what was amazingly clear was the sonic fingerprint or flavour or character of various recordings.

The clarity was simply amazing, with us saying "whoa, did you hear that?" every few seconds, as details in the recordings that we'd never heard before revealed themselves.

Considering we simply plonked the speakers down in the most logical spot and didn't tweak at all, there should be some improvements still to be had (or perhaps not?)

So, all in all, one very happy bunny!

I know exactly what you are talking about - I experienced the same phenomenons for the first time when we moved into our new studios ealier this year. The best part about this it is though, that after 11 months it is still as stunning as on the first day - a new quality that is here to stay. heh

Nice job, Darius - enjoy your new Studio!!

They are called "Aeron Chairs" and made by HermanMiller. A design classic. They are even more comfortable than they look - or you could imagine. Worth every penny - but be prepared for the price!

see here
Herman Miller - for Business - Work Chairs

Or just google "aeron chair"

There's typically lots on ebay too.

I got one of those for 35 pounds from Argos but the design is a bit different, the seat is not curved.... I think these should be quite expensive

Hi Michael,

Those lights are just 220v halogens.....they'll be pushed up into the ceiling after the fabric is fitted.

The cool lighting is still to be installed! heh

Hi Darius,
My father (Bert) had told me about the project he was working on recently. He showed me the site with all the pics. I signed in, because I wanted to tell you that I think it's really great what you guys build! It all looks really cool!!! Also really funny to see my family in these pictures!
Can't you put them on a cd for them? Ah, well, maybe you allready did!
I wish you a lot of luck finishing it all!
Greetings ,
Jeannette
