My vocal distress story.

Who knows, maybe someone here has tips for me
Started singing when I was 15.
'unfortunately' I was really into Nirvana back then.
So I screamed like Kurt but without technique, until I could scream no more.
I was constantly hoarse and in constant pain.
I thought this was the way to go, seeing how Kurt also screamed like crazy.
I remember one time after a screaming session, I had really hurt myself, maybe even tasted some blood, and couldn't speak for 4 days.
I feel like there was a subtle permanent change in my voice after this.
Fast forward 15 years.
Still singing using correct technique now, and no more screaming.
Still having daily discomfort on one side of my larynx.
Luckely last year the pain on the right side cleared up, so that's a start.
It took me 2 years of using good singing/speaking technique to make this happen.
Today, people tell me they enjoy my singing.
If only I would feel the same way when I listen back.
Every day I wish for the discomfort to be gone.
Maybe that will subconsciously change my confidence about my singing.
I'm never hoarse anymore, and the more I sing the less discomfort I have.
It always creeps back in when I'm not singing.
Weird huh???
I had an ENT have a quick look at my vocal cords, he said they were fine.
If anyone has tips on what I should try, I'd be happy to hear it.

Thanks,
David

Sadly for singers, vocal cords change the more you age. The more singing you do, the more strained the cords will get thus, reducing their longevity.

The good news now is that singing baby- talk lyrics with baby-talk auto-tuned voices is the flavor of the day. No more grunge-angst screaming is necessary to compete in today's pop music format for success. Just go easy on the oopy-doopys. Also try and stay away from leftover cookie monster rants.

Haha :D Here's another rant :D this society sucks man. Not talking about you as a person. Its all because of a few people who invented banks and money for us to chase. Anyway I realise today the best thing I could do is scream for my life again and be gone.

Have a good day guys

If anyone can help you it'd probably be this guy (Ken Tamplin) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6x...tXDEvLDDFWlLvA

If I recall correctly he's mentioned remedies and such (not sure for your problem).
