reaper for recording vocals?

hi folks

iv got an imac running logic with a focusrite scarlet 2i2 (2nd gen) interface.
now, alls good, im making choons and bit by bit adding to my plugin/instruments and alls fine and dandy.
iv a vocalist who is quite ill and cannot travel to record....
im thinking of buying a cheap laptop and using it with reaper and my scarlett to record her in her own environment when she is feeling up to it.

is this a reasonable solution do you think?
is reaper capable of top quality recordings?
will it work with my scarlett?
will my scarlett work with a cheap laptop or will i have to fork out?

any help/ advice will be great because if this solution is workable it opens up more options for me in terms of location recording

I use Reaper with my Scarlet 18i8 through my basic Dell home PC with no problems, in fact I really like the recording results from this combo and sound quality is great. Reaper has a bit of a learning curve as far as all of its capabilities but You can be up and running for basic recordings pretty much from the start and you can learn the fine tuning as you go along.
