Are cracking noises bad?

Hi,

As I don't use my computer only for Audio, I don't want the interface to be turned on all the time. And have my headphones connected to it all the time, wether turned on or off. So when I plug it in there is this characteristic crack/pop sound, like when you plug in a guitar into a turned on amp.

Is that bad for the headphones, can it cause damage to the membranes or anything like that?

If I were you, I would try to avoid the initial pop that turning on your interface puts out on either your monitors or your headphones. Nothing keeping you from unplugging your heaphones when not in use. Play it safe to save yourself from having to make a future purchase that could have been avoided.
