Buying my first active, bedroom speakers

Hello,

Great forum over here!

Recently my speakers broke that were connected to my Behringer BCD3000.
These were old ones I got from a family member. They were rather large, so I don't mind buying new ones.

I am thiking of 3 speakers and I hope someone here could help me pick one suited for me.
The 3 speakers are:
Hercules xps 2.0 60, or;
M-Audio Audiophile AV40, or;
KRK rp5 g2.

My room is not to big, but I like to turn up the sound sometimes.

2 Questions though:
Are the KRK Rokit bigger than the other 2 or basically in same size category?
And I currently have the pc speakerset Hercules xps 2.100, dating from 2003. Will the sound be better, just as loud?

Thanks in advance!

Ok so the Hercules speakers are not studio monitors, so I wouldn't recommend mixing or doing any kind of critical listening on them. You could probly just use them for referencing, but not much else.

I personally wouldn't recommend the M-Audio speakers. A friend had them and I was definitely not impressed.

Lastly, I'd say the RP5s are probly your best option. Learn them well and you should be fine. They have a slight bump in the low end, but I have a pair of PR6's at home and my mixes translate just fine. They don't sound bad when you turn them up either, but I obviously wouldn't recommend mixing for long periods of time with them too loud.

DJ'ing? You'd love the KRK's! The frequency response on the KRK's are geared for EDM.

What gen KRK are you looking at? Either way, they are probably the best option you have listed. Do you have a specific budget in mind?

I listed the KRK RP5 G2. Generation 2 I assume

My budget will be around €120 (~150$)

*edit:
Nevermind... I see the KRK RP5 go by one at a time, so that will make it like €250-$300,-. That is way out of my budget :(

You can't even buy good headphones with 120€ !
Yamaha HS series are the one to take under 300€.

Maybe the Alesis M1 Active 520? Your budget honestly doesn't allow for much...

As always, the advice in this thread is useless. Audition different sets of monitors yourself. If you're unwilling to take the time and effort to audition various monitors yourself, just flip a coin.
