How to record a saz/ oud?

Hi

Anyone with some experience at recording a saz or an oud (these are Turkish string instruments)? Would you record it like an acoustic guitar? Or any other technique? thanks

I normally record these instruments with one mic. First choice goes to Telefunken usa m260, second chioce goes for Mojave ma100fet, third choice go for Royer R121

Thanks for your reply's. Although I have a nice collection of mics, I do not have the mics you mention. I'll certainly try my whole arsenal (Rode NT5 st.pair, 2 Neumann M49s, Neumann U87 and U67.) Both of you use a ribbon. Do you think it's a must to borrow one from a friend for my sessions with the saz-player?
