Explain how to wire di & amp mic ay same time for guitars

I have recorded bass guitar and electric guitar direct input (di). Using a 1/4" guitar cable straight from the guitar to the inst di on my audio interface.

I do not have an amp, maybe this is simple? I want to try micing the guitar amps and also recording di at the same time.

What cables, (mixer?) do i need to wire up a guitar so it outputs to di and to an amp?

I'd appretiate help in howtoset this up.

Do i simply need a 1/4 splitter?

You either need to split the signal to go to both the DI and the amp, or if you have an amp with outputs you can plug the DI into these. Or use an external DI which normally has parallel outputs, so you just put it between your guitar and amp.
