To save you time on gearslutz

Everything from behringer sucks. Don't bother unless it's an x32 in the live forum - which really just a budget midas.

You either love or hate the sm57...but you'll still put it on a guitar cab with 3 other mics.

Same thing with the yamaha ns-10. You're going to hate it...but if it sounds pro on those...well, it's gonna sound pro everywhere.

Any 500-3k ldc is going to work for studio vocals. Dont buy cheaper because it's going to sound just that.

No one likes the akg c1000 on anything. Don't bother.

The sm81 is your go to live overhead mic...the u87 is your studio.

The neve 1073 is the best preamp you'll ever hear or use.

There are at least 100 ways to mic drums. All of them have a sound....just find the one that works for you

If you're not sure what mic to use on an instrument. Try an sm57...it'll probably work. It probably isn't the best choice...but it'll work.

You forgot, "analog mixing can enhance depth, width and impart a rich euphonic quality."

Oh, and don't forget, "you can achieve exactly the same, or even far superior results ITB."

Putting a hardware compressor on the 2-bus instantly improves everything. This never works for software.

It's not about the gear its about the performance.

Have you had your room treated?

(Insert name of legendary musician) would have sounded incredible even if he'd used a (insert name of famously crappy piece of gear.)

If you want to sound like (insert name of legendary musician) you need to record (insert name of legendary musician.)

If you can't get a good sound out of an SM7 it's not the mic that's the problem.

This new piece of gear is not an exact remake of model xyz from 1973. Therefore it's totally useless.

All music that I don't like (ie wasn't popular when I was 14) is crap.

There was a more comprehensive post along the same lines several years back. It was incredible. Anyone remember what I'm talking about?

If you haven't spent months agonizing over acoustically treating your spare bedroom, don't even bother. You won't be able to record anything.

Yeah everything recorded at Headley Grange in the 70's was an abomination, we need a time machine to go back and show them how to do it right.

I expected this to be a BUMP of that thread. I tuned in just to see what was new and it turned out that nothing was new except the package.
