FX & Group Tracks in Cubase one of the same?

Hi guys

My friend is convinced that group tracks are different to FX tracks in Cubase and I'm confused. I know FX tracks should be used for sends and groups for bussing but I was told that FX tracks loop audio around the track in a different way to group tracks when using them both with sends? I like to keep my groups solely for bussing and FX tracks for paralell processing IE reverbs and sometimes compression with the output set to stereo out, is this standard practice? I was under the impression that although FX and group tracks are made for different purposes ultimately they are exactly the same but have different names and one is shaded slightly darker than the other in the mixer....?

When you create an FX channel for selected track it will send to that.
If you create an Group channel for selected track it will route to that.
And yes you are free to route or send otherwise if you desire.

p.s. There is a Cubase topic.
