How do these accoustic drums sound so good?

Does anyone know how to achieve a similar sound or know of any mixing tricks to get the snare to feel round and have that oomph! (Also the toms, they are dope!)

I've never heard drums that sound this amazing. They sound like butter!

I read in an interview a long time ago they bought a cheap drum set online and recorded it in their room.

I can think of three things that have the greatest impact on how the drums sound, #1 how it's micd, what drumset/room you're using and how it's mixed. So it's probably a combination of those three.

I've never heard a record with drums that sound like this. Check it out!

No mixing tricks.no tricks at all actually.

The sound comes form the drums itself, the room its played in, the mic positions in the room and the person playing the drums

Step 1) find a tiny and very dead room
Step 2) find a tiny drum set
Step 3) write a song that sounds like it was meant to sell the 2016 Kia Soul

j/k. It sounds like a kit recorded in an acoustically "dead" room (think carpet on the walls, mid 1970's vibe). It sounds like the drums at least were tracked to tape, or they are using a tape saturation plugin.

Sweet! Now that you mention it, it does have a very dead sound, no reflections or anything.
