Recreate Synth Sound

I started with electronic music. Did a lot of udemy courses (EDM Production, Compressors, EQ, ...), but my sounds did not sound how I wanted it. I realised it is not the mixing and mastering. I think the problem is the composing. To get more skills I decided to remake a Track I like (Galantis / In my Head). First question... do you think that is the best way to learn these skills? Or is there a course for this. I know the technics, but dont have the skills right now to sound like Galantis.

Second thing... I started and build the song. Now i see that the sound of synths make a huge differece. But i just cant build the sound on my own. What is the best way to learn the skills? Do you use only presets? Or is there a course? I found one for sylenth1 at udemy... maybe I will try this. But it is again 8 Hours, so I want to be sure that there is not a better way or another course which helped you to replicate sounds one by one or do sounds which are in my head.
