VU Meter problems

Hi guys

I've been struggling with VU meters recently and was wondering if someone could help. I see on a multitude of videos people setting there levels with a VU meter with a nice compressed bass (for example) where on their peak meters they're average level is sitting around -18DBFS hitting around 0DBVU, which is great.

When I put a Klanghelm VU meter on my compressed bass and calibrate it to -18 (so it should read as 0DBVU) It reads around -10 DBVU and my peak meters are also averaging around -10DBFS.

I'm well annoyed. Help :(

This just means that your source audio peaks around -10db. Just because you calibrated both dB's, doesn't mean all your source tracks will hit 0dB.
Gain staging needs to be applied
