Help on choosing audio mixer

Hi , i am a newbie to audio mixer.

I need audio mixer that can do the following:

microphone that connects to the audio mixer (input ) and then output to the stereo speaker, and when i hit play on the computer it can play music on the stereo speaker in which when i speak on the microphone it can record voice on the computer. Not sure which brand and models to buy . Need some advice. Thanks.

Get a decent (whith microphone inputs) audio interface for that.

The key thing you are asking for is stereo two way real time communication from computer to monitor along with recording and monitoring other inputs to the mixer. Not a simple thing.

The most complex is getting the audio in and out of the computer without lag. That's the fight. Or doing all of the monitoring and adjusting the inputs timing.

Get converters for the computer and use up inputs and outputs on the mixer. to go to the computer I think is what you want.

Whats a good set of converters and mixer? What's your budget? How good are your speakers? How many channels do you want to record at once is a key factor.

Good point. There are some mixers that double as audio converter too.
Maybe the convenience of faders and equalizers is handy?

You will need one with multi usb out then to do what op is asking for (recording voice seperate from playback I assume).
Most will record stereo out (what you are playing back to).

I'd get a studio 192
An Allen & Heath MixWizard 4
Some cables
A mic
A pc
Some monitors / Speakers

Game over

Bump! Just got a Soundcraft 12 MTK and it’s very cool coming back in real time into the mixer from the DAW via the USB Return feature. Check it out. It should fit the bill.
