Help on my first gear :D

Hi Guys,

It's time for me to go hybrid/Hardware. I need to get everything still.
I just don't know what kind of cables and how many I need..
I have a: mackie bigknob, Focusrite Isa One. I'm gonna get a 500 lunchbox.
So I will get:
-RME Fireface 802
-Samson patchbay +
-Some eq's and comp, around 4/5 pieces
-Wesaudio Carrier ii

I just don't know what cables, how many and how to connect them.

Could you guys please help?

Thanks!

How are you planning to use it?

From interface > patch > 500 > patch > interface
Is this the correct way?

There's no right or wrong way.
Do you want to use the 500 for recording or (also) as external effect when mixing itb?
What's the idea behind the patchbay?

Maybe this will give you some idea.

I want to use the modules for tracking vocals, so pre into comp perhaps EQ. And then also use it itb like compressing a snare or eq a mixbus

Well, the simple way would be to connect all your 500 stuff to the patchbay (XLR male to 1/4" TRS for inputs on 500 and XLR female to 1/4" TRS for outputs)
The ISA ONE with an XLR female to 1/4" TRS to patchbay.
Then the AI to (1/4" TRS cables) the Patchbay and get a bunch of patch cables.

Personally I would forget about the patchbay and get a Analog > ADAT converter connect everything to the in and outputs and patch itb (route in TotalMix).

Or compress into the EQ or just EQ or just compressor and nothing, you can send it to what ever you want. There is no right or wrong ways, as long as it gets you the sound you want

Yes, but I thought this was only possible with a patchbay!

A patch bay is not needed to do that, it just depends on your signal chain, gain stages, how you want it set up and personnel preferences on your work flow
