Seting up a Mixcube for Mono mixing

There is a lot of discussion on mono mixing already but nothing regarding my specific situation.

When applying the "Utility" plugin in Ableton to a Master bus and selecting the "mono" preset, does it matter what output (left or right) I plug my Mixcube into to hear the mono mix?

To avoid having to purchase a monitor control, I understand I can utilize Ableton's "Utility" plugin for playback of the master track in mono. I understand I will have to unplug my nearfield monitors and plug in the mixcube manually each time I want to switch between stereo and mono listening.

Thanks

Once you set your master bus to Mono, you can plug the MixCube to either the L or R output. It’s the same.

Anyway, if I were you I would buy a monitor control with at least 2 different outputs. Plugging and unplugging the cables of you monitors could lead in unwanted noises that could harm your speakers. Also, once you manually change the cables a couple of times, you’ll probably get tired of it. A monitor control is the way to go.

Thank you Francisco! Currently acoustically treating my room and I am trying to nickel and dime some things.
