Settings for LA-610 using Neumann U87

I have a LA-610 & a Neumann U87 going into a UA Apollo interface. My levels are too hot and so I have to bring my gain down to a 3. LA-610 plugs into input 3 XLR input on the interface and so this my problem? If so, how can i disable preamp on the input channel on the interface?
Also, what are the common settings or ideal on a LA-610 MKII using the U87?
Any help is appreciated.

Just use the line in on your audio interface and do not use the pre-amps. If its a combo input, it automatically bypasses it,as long as you do not enable phantom power.
So do not use phantom power and use the line in on the interface.

Also, doesn't the Neumann U87 have a 10dB pad? I think it does, you can enable that as well....

Nothing is common, as every person voice and sound source is different.
It depends on how strong your voice is
It depends on how far away you are form the mic.
It depends on the level of the sound source
It depends on the power of the pre-amp
It depends on many other variables

Just make sure you record din 24bit and your peak dB levels are between -18dB to -10dB

Simplifying what CJ said...
Use an XLR-F to 1/4" TRS cable from the la-610 out to a Line input on the Appollo

The pad is your friend. I make sure it's on 99% of the time. Every time I've forgotten or tried it out, I've ended up with scorched bits.
