Not enough USB ports

Not enough USB ports

I will be using multiple USB devices (MIDI keyboards, a dj controller, audio interface, external hard drive, etc. Unfortunately, my macbook pro only has 2 usb ports on it, and when I upgrade, it'll be a couple Thunderbolt 3 ports. Is there a practical solution for this such as a rack mount powered/active USB hub? I've looked all over the web for this. If not, I'm curious what more professional studios use for device connectivity? Do they not use USB devices, and this is why a decent rack mount USB hub doesn't exist? If it doesn't exist, is there something else I can use to connect my devices? I'm hoping to avoid a cheap desk hub, but I suppose that'll work for now until I have a thunderbolt 3 macbook. Thanks!

I use a USB hub for my midi devices only. As far as audio, you can look at Thunderbolt2 as a viable option to tap off the USB-C ports.

But i've been using powered USB hubs for years. I've never had a $15 powered hub fail on me.
