From live to studio

Hey pros,

Can global manual master eq in a home studio using small near fields really compensate/translate to a big PA system in your Experiance?

no way that just an eq will do!

horn loaded speakers, a sub, a speaker controller to emulate some of the behaviour of a pa and possibly add some reverb to mimic room contribution would be good start though; mixing with all of this in a very large room would be the next step and doing it on pa speakers/subs would get you closer - still difficult if not impossible trying to fake the effects of arrays and also, what imaginary position/distance one would want to chose (there's a serious amount of hf damping over distance as can be easily experienced when measuring response of music being played over a pa which got aligned to measure flat)...

...yet a well bananced mix will translate to pretty much any environment: pa's these days get aligned to sound very good (if alignment well and the room is okay).
