Monitors die when turned up

Small set of home studio monitors going into zoom r16. Try to turn them up and they crackle and die. Can anyone help

Yes. I can help. I can help you tell the forum enough to get you some meaningful responses.
First, tell us the exact brand and model of monitors you are writing about. Are they powered or unpowered? If unpowered, what amplifier are you using to power them?
Second, describe more clearly what you are doing when you turn them up and they crackle and die? Do they die when you turn them up without playing any music? If you are playing music, do they sound normal for a bit before they fail? How loud do they get before they fail? If you keep the level low, will they keep playing or do they eventually fail? What kind of music are you playing? Is there any unusual instrument or effect playing?
If you answer, help will come.
