I've tried those things. They're so close to the mic they mess with the polar pattern in unpleasant ways and end up sounding boomy and odd, without doing that much for the isolation.

Two large slabs of glasswool in a V shape are usually ideal behind the mic.

This little guy opens like a book, and although I have to prop it up to have it as tall as I need it to be on a small table, works far better than any of the more "portable" options.

I've tried several "reflection filters" and the only one I found causes little harm to the sound and sort of works is the Aston Halo. However, it only becomes noticeable in rooms where the acoustics really are quite bad.
