New Tannoy Gold Dual Concentric Monitors ???

Hi guys !

Just watched a video from a TC Helicon facebook page from Gearfest 2019 and noticed they are promoting new "Tannoy Gold" (that's what the guy in the video said) Dual Concentric monitors. And you can see them in the back.

I'm very excited to hear those !

This is the link for the video, I'm not sure if it can be embed, if moderators can do it, please do it :D

I miss our old Tannoy 8" concentrics from the... 90s (wow). They were so clean and punchy. I just sent an email to my Sweetwater guy, since this is their event.

My salesguy finally made it over to the Music Tribe booth, and "...those monitors are a pre-production unit. The monitors do not exist yet and they do not have a time frame as to when they will at this time."

Sad trombone.

LOL, why would they tease us like this

I wanted to shop some retro 10'' tannoys, srm's or golds, and was hoping for some new high quality dual concentric monitors with extended lows from tannoy, but seems that I'll have to wait some more

They may be picking up marketing tips from sister Music Tribe company Behringer, which means this is just the beginning. If we're lucky, they'll ship in 2021. I will be ready, though.

The originals are a staple for me, owned the Little Reds for mixing and a pair of 12" Golds for listening. Great that some form of it is coming back, i wish they'd gone with the wood cabinets and period correct looks, though. And i'm also a bit weary about a powered version of these, not being passive and powered by a pair of old Quad IIs feels completely wrong. But i suppose sound is still the most important thing to get right. Looking forward to knowing more about these.

Swoon!

I want them to have no-brainer Behringer-level pricing, but then I'd have to wait for some reviews before I no-brainer buy them.

The only turn down for me is that the 8'' are +/- 3db 54-20k ... 54hz for 8'' for a modern monitor is too high imo. But at least they are probably honest with the numbers

I wish they were passive, to be honest, and that they would've invested that portion into quality components. For all i know, they might sound great, though.

Andertons in the UK and Thomann in Germany have them priced on their websites. Andertons are the cheapest so far. There are probably more suppliers that have them this side of the Atlantic

Price is for speaker, so 644€ for a pair of 5" ones (Thomann). Weird that Anderton's prices are so different, anyone know why this is? Would they be factoring customs taxes into the price due to Brexit already?

I hope the pricing is more in line with Anderton's and that Thomann's price is some sort of misunderstanding or something. I also hope these do justice to their heritage.

Don't you think they're missing the boat by not bringing out 10" and 12" versions? An 8" seems so computer work station oriented.

I do. I was hoping for at least 10'' versions. I think there is a serious gap in the current market of 10'' monitors.

It's the same spec as the original 10", slightly better actually. Like ATC, you're losing a little bit of extreme low but getting ****much**** better everything else. But, that's also assuming these are anything like the old Tannoys which is a pretty iffy, particularly considering the company is owned by Behringer. They didn't exactly help keep the SGM legacy going when they acquired Tannoy (to put it mildly). Glad they're at least attempting to resurrect it. Hopefully these sound good.
