In addition to softening the high frequencies, it has a significant impact on the mid frequencies, they feel more open and clean. I was a bit skeptical at first, I guess he wasn't used to such a clinical sound. But now I just love him.

I use it on all mixing channels and also for mastering. For me, it sounds better than TDR's Ultrasonic plugin, but like everything I suppose everyone has their taste.
