I figured this would never happen since they have the N8. Very tempted to sell my MK1 now, but then I'll need to upgrade to the new TRP as well as mine doesn't have phantom on it. ARG!

I wouldn’t do it honestly.
Unless you’re recording classical music or VERY quiet acoustic stuff and don’t have access to top notch preamps that are able to drive the mic properly.

You already have everything you need..

Be happy!

Ok, so it sounds like that active transformer is designed to sound a bit cleaner as well. I can understand wanting that, but I think I'll hold on to my MK1 for now as I love the color for what I do. If I were still doing live orchestral stuff or scores, the active would probably be a better choice.

I completely agree. Had I not sold my R88 (which I loved) to snag a super clean RCA 44, I wouldn’t be tempted by the active version. However, I miss the R88 more than I imagined. I hope to pick up the new active offering this spring (once I have the funds). Wes and his magic mics are keeping me broke.
