Am I the only one who feel that P2F is a legal case waiting to happen?

The difference is that they are using trade marks and brand names all over the place without permission.

When we make impulse responses of an old Lexicon Reverb and call it Lexicon 480 IR's why is
that a Problem?
We are fan of these guys and all these vintage Gear. How should we call it?
If there is a problem with that of course we will not use the name again.
All the best

Look at the other companies who make impulse responses they also use the name of the hardware and its model name and the number. Check out xtreme samples for example.

It is a trademark infringement if you don't have explicit permission from the owners to use it. The only exception is if it falls under the fair use doctrine, but that's not the case here.
That's why pretty much every company out there use other names that often gives a hint to what the original unit is without using their trademarks, and/or use visual clues. Those who use the original brand names are usually endorsed by the brand owners and have permission to use them.

I realize that you might not be aware of this, but it's good to keep in mind. In best case they might just ask you to remove it, which is usually the way it goes from my experience. In worst case they might go after financial compensation.

Thank you for taking time and writing this.

Just wondering should we find a name like Mexicon 480 IR's so that we are at the safe side?

What about all the people who sells kemper profiles? They call it for example fender super reverb profiles. Also illegal?
Cheers

Many plugins and hardware clones have the numbers '73' or '76' or '117' or '2A'. Everyone knows what '224' or '480' or even '140' stands for.

Depends how "cool" with it Lexicon will be about it. But using another company's name in your branding is potentially legal trouble.

I'd just twist the name and call it "Iconic" or something like that.

No just impulse responses of the original vintage units.
We would never make a reverb plug in and call it Lexicon
