Here for the gear
So, what's new, except for the Renaissance redesign? Will they finally fit into one WavesShell file?

From what I saw quickly, Waves Renaissance Bundle has been completely overhauled in terms of GUI. Also full compatible with OS Catalina etc.. etc..

Read more here:

https://www.waves.com/introducing-waves-v11

Now lets see if Waves have gone the little extra mile to make their plugins GUI resizable all those little features that we normally find in today's plugins releases.

Glad at least that they re-designed the Wave Ren and new plugins as well.

You stole my exact thought...

WTF Waves?? In retina displays some of your plugins look like porn ads in betting sites.

Another let down.

Cheers!

The Renaissance Bundle still sound good nowadays.

But it needed much more than a rounded re-skin. Big missed oportunity by Waves here.

Something more Fabfilter like, with more visual features, would make this the plugin it deserves to be.

Some new skins and some bugfixes.
But most of all, the biggest part of this update is a sort of threat that when not updating to V11 your future projects may be at stake.
That while most plugins have not been changed, coming from V10.
I still like to use Waves plugins but their update and WUP policy remain to bug me.
Why would you have to pay for bugfixes a year after buying a plugin?
And why does a plugin stay in V10 when it has not really been updated?

The email mentions CPU improvements, but that doesn't really mean anything until we start testing things out for ourselves.

Retina/HiDPI displays have been available for SEVEN YEARS, Waves. Think of how many Waves plugins have been introduced since then, and yet not a single one has a high resolution GUI.

GUI whining aside, I personally don’t get much value out of most of the Waves plugs I’ve acquired over the last 14 years. There’s a couple plugins I can’t work without, but I’m otherwise done paying for the blanket WUP that offers nothing besides “current compatibility.”

two systems, one updated fine, the other completely hosed. Error during installation. OSX. Feels like a permission problem. Reinstalled OS. No joy. any ideas? Yes, I've asked Waves but that will be days...

Remembering the pain V9->V10, and especially the living /installing parallel with these two versions caused, it will take some time before I dare even to think updating /purchasing ANY V11 Waves plugin.

I think that a fair/encouraging move from the developers side, had been giving the V11 bundle updates free of charge for all the previous versions bundle owners (even when the WUP expired). Sorry, forget the previous, I forgot we are talking about the Waves...

What's so groundbreaking about it, GUI? And can I use it to install my V10 plugins?

I really like this new feature, when you're loading Logic and don't have your license with you... you don't have to "skip" every plugin license request. With Mercury, this could take bloody ages!!

Improved: Added "Skip All" to unlicensed plugin message in Logic Pro.

I personally think it has been a rushed update version from 10 to 11 because of Catalina and that is why not so many improvements to GUIs etc have been accomplished yet.

I agree... V10 was June 2018, so we only got 16-17 months out of V10, which is much shorter than the recent pattern for Waves. I wonder if this is a sign of things to come? I sure hope not.

In any case, the install process went very smoothly, and it installs both V10 and V11 online, which is a nice improvement from V10, which did NOT install V9 online. So at least Waves learned some lessons from the V10 release.

Surprised they didn't makeover the GUIs, or at least make them scalable by now. Otherwise, everything works well for me in Nuendo, Reaper, Studio One, etc...

But I hope this 16-17 month cycle will not repeat for V12. I appreciated Waves in recent years not forcing me to WUP very often -- during V9 era, for example... that was quite a while between major updates, and you could get away with not buying WUP but still getting patches up until V10. Was a very stable period for Waves TBH. However, with Apple periodically blowing things up I can imagine the cost of maintenance is high. I hope Apple is done messing things up for a few years. So hopefully V11 will be another long cycle.

Waves could generate a lot of goodwill if they continue these kind of updates across their catalogue (and modern features like resizing/scaling, which is essential).

$240 USD for a compatibility patch? Waves at it again.

I've played their stupid game up until V10. This stops now - at this point I'm just throwing good money after bad.

How's Slate Digital looking these days?

I have updated my plugins from version 10 to 11 as they were all within their update plans and it all worked well so I decided to purchase the Horizon Bundle in the current sale and am downloading it now.

I am just wondering if you could elaborate further on what you are happy with as to the way things are moving now? I mean how have things changed from you calling for a boycott years ago to now being happy. I haven't had the long term experience of Waves you obviously have so am interested to know your experiences. Thanks.

Yeah, I reckon they need to make all the plugins at least scalable (hopefully this will be done as updates within version 11 and not be held over until version 12). Not overly bothered about newly designed GUIs (as this is just form over substance imho), just would like to be able to see them on a large monitor more easily lol.

Amazingly I managed on v10 until 6 months ago or whenever their last big WUP sale was. My WUP is valid until May so I can update to v11 but I see it is only compatible with Ableton 10.1 and I am still on v9. Many of us can happily sit on a piece of software for years but either a new computer, OS, DAW or plugin upgrade will often kick off the cycle of a major upgrade and associated expenses. Been pushed through these upgrade hoops a fair few times now before I really wanted to. Didn't Waves compatibility used to stretch back over a few DAW iterations and didn't just cover the current version?

Can confirm that 10 and 11 coexist nicely in the new waves central. The ren plugins look cheesy for sure, but they are larger and a lot cleaner so it’s an improvement. I wish they would have added modern features like m/s, mix knob, side chain filter, solo eq band and oversampling. No resizable GUI. I guess we have to wait another 20 years. Worst thing is that they replaced the now classic reneq manual.

Here for the gear
Just updated from 10 to 11 and now its crashing Reason on startup with a hardware exception error. Also, Mixcraft and Tracktion are both getting fatal errors after this waves update on Windows 10. Hope they get this sorted out.
