I know AO have taken a few knocks over the years, so I thought I'd try this plugin and offer my humble opinion. I haven't bought it (more demoing required) but actually, it sounds pretty good. I had a drum track lying around (not me unfortunately) and made a before and after. Both tracks were peak-matched so the increase in volume is purely down to the RMS increase by SweetDrums (and/or SoundCloud, but they both peaked at around -2.5dBFS inside of Reaper):

Without SweetDrums:

With SweetDrums:

To get around the "louder is better" trap, I used the Hornet CLMS to normalise these to -23 LUFS:

Without SweetDrums:

With SweetDrums:

For a quick and easy way to make drums sound better, this is actually useful!

Also, I'm not saying these drums are "better" as such with SweetDrums, it was a really quick 2 minute job in Reaper just to show what the plugin can actually do.

Just used it to add a bit of life to a rather dry EZDrummer track. Added nothing more than 2.5 on the process dial to inject a bit of life - very sweet! Will purchase.

If only there was a way to link Process to Output so as you increase Process you don't get massive jumps in volume.

From watching that vid, I agree. Actually when A/Bing, I tend to actually make the output a tiny bit lower than the bypass, so fake myself out.

I do like the processing on the 808 drums.

I was demoing with this in a session in Logic and the instead of the the plugin muting after 10 minutes as the website says,
it showed a red spike on my input meter and stopped audio on my whole session forcing a complete shutdown of my system and interface to get audio back. I have no way to tell if this has anything to do with the demo limitations or if it's a bug in the plug. If it's not a bug it's a very poor way to restrict your demo.

Hi,

We are so sorry about this situation.

While testing, we never faced this issue. And users didn't tell us issue like this. Really interesting and big problem. So sorry, again...

Can you tell us your system specs. and more details via email, please?

We would like to fix your problem.

Thanks.

My system is MBP with 16 gig RAM, running mac OS Sierra, and Logic 10.4.4.
The above just happened again which leads me to believe it has to do with your demo limitations. Your plugin should mute, perhaps stopping the audio on whatever channels it's on. Not take out audio for the entire session. Muting or removing the plugin does not restore the audio system. I even tried resetting Core Audio by changing the buffer size in Logic preferences which most of the time does restore audio. Nope. Only a complete restart does. This is just not acceptable.

It's special processor for drums. But what if we put it on our master bus? Lets see!

Remove harsh sound, add clarity and definition!

Hm, that does indeed sound pretty cool. Funky track, too!

Is it doing something like the old Dolby A trick?

Hello,

Glad to hear that you liked!

It's kind of Dolby A. It has extra some features and designed especially for drums. But as you can see, it's usable with master bus or other materials.

"Sweet Drums" has tape saturation/dynamics, air eq, vintage program eq and dynamic-multiband compression inside of it. There are pre-calculated frequencies for dynamic-multiband compressor.

This plugin is doing a trick with program eq (low & high) and dynamic-multiband compressor according to source material. But dynamic-multiband compression is affecting too light!

Thanks.

It's maybe a drastic change there, it does sound good. But it's a big change. Night and day from the low mids.

I think this sounds like a nice device used sparingly.

I must say, I have a bit of issues there because of my room.

This would have to go on a buss, because you cannot parallel it internally.

To me it moved more mud than harshness.

edit: Purchased. $20 2 knobs and I agree this is not just for dums. I can see a wooly bass being cleaned up here without me choosing the frequencies.

edit 2: I cannot wait because the timing is right to test it. I prefer more drastic plugins like this rather than the subtle ones where I waste time wondering whats going on. Here I listen and then drop the i/o as needed boom done.

You've already got my money but autogain would be awesome, or at least, be able to link "Process" to "Output" in some way, like using the right-mouse button perhaps, or just a simple tickbox?

Yes, lots of users wanted auto-gain/output-link option. So, started to update plugin with this option.

It will be ready with next update!
