TC Electronic release Finalizer stand alone processor - algorithms from System 6000

Not the best for loudness wars but really good for moderate levels on tracks that need really clean clear processing.
The level matching is spot on.

It looks like this is standalone only without having any option to pop in 3rd party plugins or outboard. That implies that whoever wants to use this thing would need to surrender their trusted mastering chain in it's entirety. Who the fcuk would do that?? It should be straightforward to create a DAW plugin from this, and if that were the case I would love to check it out. I can also imagine that they would sell a sh_tload if this was a plugin, but probably only a handful as is. Absolutely mind boggling.

I agree. But I think its the level matching and waveform display stuff that probably makes it hard to add plugins/hardware.

One thing you can do is use it to balance the track and then print without the limiter to use the file with other plugins or outboard.

But yeah I don't see many people doing that.

Hopefully, they port the limiter as a plugin one day as its still great.

Quick question before I demo.

-Does this master only one track at a time?

- Can you edit the audio file in/ out points, fades?

- One track at a time only ( but you can import ref tracks )

- You can edit in/out points, but no fades whatsoever.

Thanks,

Seems a bit limited. I also wish it could be used as a plugin inside my daw.

Great but this need to support 3rd-party plugins or port the individual modules as plugins to be used in other DAWs, it's limited in the current format.

Ugggh, not being able to do a whole album master is, frankly speaking, quite ridiculous. Of course, that wouldn't be a showstopper if they just made this a plugin

I think one thing is for sure, the Finalizer will not be a pussy melter

I agree that I have no interest in a standalone mastering environment - it does sound good though...

does this add anything new to the table, that we can't get anywhere else?

It sounds good, it’s quick and intuitive enough.
It could be a good addition for the fast turnaround.

I don’t care that it’s not a plugin.

Actually, it's pretty refreshing to see such a tool as a standalone.

Stop with the endless chain of plugins. Just a well designed tool for the job.

I might really get into this as I use 3-4 DAWs already

Another StandAlone will not kill me

I won this in a giveaway and found out this morning. Stoked to try this out. I think I would actually benefit from using a standalone to finalize my tracks that I do. Can’t wait to dive in and try this out.

Why plugin? It is 1:1 port from TC 6000, mastering section. Standalone mastering standard.

You guys like a band of fat cats not eating wild Alaskan salmon because it’s not cut and packed neatly enough.

Currently supports only 44.1 and 48 kHz processing rates.

Higher sample rate files must be converted.

I for sure want it as a plug-in. TC, come on, you're killin' us!

But I still regularly use my Powercore X8 (courtesy of 32 Lives), and while I have high quality plugins that sit at the end of my Mastering Chain (after an analog excursion), there is something about the sound of the MD3 I still really love. "Record." You bet I'm going to pick up the new Finalizer with its TC 6000 MD4, etc. Oh, yeah...

Plus for this [introductory?] price of $99?!?! Thank you, you wonderful Danes!

But Temnov, I think it's more like we fat cats want to be able to have a salad, our choice of veggies, some starches, and a nice glass of red wine *along* with that luscious wild Alaskan Salmon!

Because I would like to use it at the end of my chain in ProTools, same way I used the original Finalizer for 10 years (as a hardware insert). This way I have the flexibility to adjust the mix at a track level.

I don't see what that has to do with our request.
