CORAL2 is a VST/AAX/AU plug-in designed first and foremost for use in mastering sessions. It allows for a smooth and controlled action on any audio material and includes an equalizer, a compressor, an elliptical filter, and a preamp stage, plus a new, powerful M/S Baxandall EQ, enabling you to further shape the tone of your masters.

TRANSPARENT AND TRIDIMENSIONAL.

Coral2 is an extremely transparent processor, thanks to the smooth, broad curves of its equalizer and the uniquely forgiving behavior of its dynamic section. Particularly, the compressor applies an ultra-soft clipping to the signal and the gain reduction applied to large dynamic areas is more gentle and gradual, in order to preserve the transients from being 'chopped off'.
We have also added an elliptical filter, which controls the stereo spread of selectable frequency ranges, a kind of processing which is often required mastering sessions for vinyl.

M/S BAXTER EQ. GET CONTROL.

We took inspiration from the classic Baxandall shelving curves of the '50s and created a uniquely powerful and smooth Equalizer designed as a “finishing EQ”. The added M/S features make this a great master buss EQ and a perfect equalizer for tracking, mixing and mastering.

WHAT YOU GET

CORAL2 suite includes:

-CORAL STRIP
-CORAL COMP
-CORAL PRE
-CORAL EQ
-CORAL ELLIPTICAL FILTER
-CORAL BAXTER M/S

Each plug-in included in the Coral2 suite comes in Standard version and an alternative “ZL*” version which operates at *zero latency and is thus suitable for use when tracking, at the cost of extra processing resources.

Smile! Free Baxter EQ

Get a taste of the sweet sound of Coral with our awesome freebie: the Baxter Equaliser (a simpler version our full commercial M/S version) but equally as powerful. Get it now through Aquarius.

CORAL2 suite is based on our Core 13 (version 13.5) engine:

-NEW: Our new Core 13 engine improves on the previous version by introducing our new VLA™ technology (Vector Loading Acceleration), which makes the response of the plugin much faster.
-Upgraded SASM (Symmetric & Asymmetric Saturation Modelling) high-performance saturation algorithm;
-Introduction of a new post-production sample de-noising tech for cleaner deconvolved impulses called STT (Super transient technology);
-Full compatibility with Client/Server architecture integrated by default in Acqua plugins;
-Engine optimisation introducing a new highly efficient algorithm. This innovative technique is applied to all the deconvolved impulses for further de-noise processing and subsequent elimination of any incorrect low-level behaviour (including the so-called "echo bug").

FROM SAMPLING HARDWARE TO SAMPLING HUMANS

With Coral Baxter M/S and Coral Baxter (Free version) we introduce the next AI-based plugins.
Unlike other companies, who simply classify the nature of audio content (violins, drums, vocals, etc.) with the aim of implementing an auto-mix functionality with the software, we have chosen a completely different approach.
But Deep Learning techniques - applied to our already unique hardware sampling technology - will be a true game changer as - to our knowledge - the creative approach of an engineer to mixing has never been 'sampled' and recreated in a plugin.

How to try a plugin: TRIAL MODE

- Create a user account (if you do not have one yet) on our website
- Download and Install Aquarius, our products manager, for either Mac or PC
- Log in to Aquarius using your user email and password
- Type the product name in the 'search' field inside Aquarius to find the '(trial)' version of the product, then click on the thumbnail or on the 'Install' button. This will take you to the product page (the trial version of a product is also visible in the 'related products' section on the right)
- Select the right plugin format according to the DAW you are using and click 'Install'
- Aquarius will download, install, and authorise the trial product automatically
- Run your DAW. You're set!

Please note:

- The old trial authorisation method - which required the 'LASTTRIALS' code - is now obsolete and each trial version of a product can be easily downloaded/installed directly from Aquarius, for a more streamlined process
- Should you see an authorisation error, the reason could be that the product has been already authorised too many times and the limit has been reached

For details about installation/authorization please refer to the following page: Acustica Audio - Professional Audio Software - Acustica Audio

AI PRESET MANAGEMENT

Coral Baxter M/S and Coral Baxter (Free version) include AI Presets.
The presets are present by default in both the commercial and the trial version of the Coral Baxter M/S and Coral Baxter (Free version).
By clicking the “PRESET” drop down menu on the right hand side of the Baxter EQ you can select a preset from the displayed list. You can choose between several presets. Details in the following Chapter (“AI PRESET LIST & CREDITS”)

A normal preset would simply load the same settings each time you use it. Our AI presets will assess the audio being fed into the plugin and then based on the data stored in it’s memory from a “sampled” mix engineers knowledge it will make an Eq change.
For the best results loop a short section of audio you think is best suited for the AI evaluation. The timeframe is quite short, only a couple of seconds, so different points in the audio will obviously give different results. Then click the preset you would like to use and watch as the eq changes. It works very well on individual tracks and groups, whereas results on the master may vary.

AI PRESET LIST & CREDITS

01. AI ALL

The “Super Experience” AI Preset it’s the result of combined learning by ALL the sound engineers who have worked for this intense project

02. AI ACUSTICA

Preset Technique (used in the AI capture phase):

This Preset is the result of the accurate and intense learning sessions by Giancarlo del Sordo.

The idea behind this product

Giancarlo Del Sordo: “This product represents the culmination of the research I have carried out for 14 years, a search that began back in 2005. Coral Baxter is a concentrate of complex technology and, at the same time, it is as incredibly simple to use as it is elegant to look at. On the one hand Baxter is light, fast, effective, and it sounds just like the hardware, on the other hand its usability is made even simpler thanks to it’s artificial intelligence. Not only do we sample the machines - built by humans - but now we 'sample' humans themselves and their interaction with these machines, which means we capture their own experience, built over years of professional work. Baxter is Art and Magic combined."

03. AI ALEX TRECARICHI

Preset Technique (used in the AI capture phase):

- EQ for individual tracks, in particular voice and drums
- EQ for Mix Bus purposes

Alex Trecarichi - Class 1977, Alex Trecarichi has been involved in countless productions for recording, mixing, mastering, arranging, producing and playing instruments for some of the most famous Italian artists and TV Shows.

Co-founder of the RESET! collective, in 2007 he started organizing huge parties and producing electronic music, remixing and working with international dance artists such as Fatboy Slim, Cassius and many more.

In September 2012 Alex opened Monodynamic Studio, where he has produced and mixed several multiple platinum hits

04. AI BIGBIZ

- baxter and baxter ms is a brand new plugin
- the overall internal structure is completely different (so a lot lower on cpu)
- it features a very complex deep learning. Just try it (coral baxter or coral baxter ms)
- we have usual Core13 fixes (echo bug, noise and so on). We didn't need a new resampling, since original sampling was quite good.

This plug sounds wonderful. But I'm getting some bugginess in the strip. When turning on the left comp, the left side becomes inoperable. It just mutes altogether and the compressor won't allow you to switch modes. You can turn the dial and it will only stay on C2.

This is in PT in sessions at 96K and 48K.

The trial of the whole where it is EQ and comp is amazingly broken!
Clicking on the comp killa all sound in left speaker and right sounds like a reverb where all sound comming and going until i take it away. Running reaper and Mac.
Standalone work fine though.

Same problem in Studio one with the strip. I only tried VST3 though but your right about the comp as soon as you turn the left on it mutes the signal on the left side.

The freebie isn't loading in PT 12.4 W7... PT reads that it isn't a valid 64 bit AAX plugin on startup. Has anyone else had this problem?

Whole Channel Strip goes kablooey when turning on compression. Turning off the compressor does not fix it.

Great release, Giancarlo and crew! It did indeed make me smile.

I have not tested it out yet but I wanted to say that thanks to the new freebie, Baxter EQ from Variety of Sound finally has a replacement. I have been using that plugin since its release. This new one just so happens to have the same name as the old one.

I have to check it again but yesterday when I installed Coral2 (not the trial) there was a strange issue also there, on channelstrip, something like a crazy autopan when I used ms setting.
I’ll check again later, I hope it was my imagination or there is an update also for the commercial release.
Other than that, it is a great update! Incredible sound and much better on cpu comparing with Coral1.

Hey @ AcusticaSupport ,
we users of Coral 1, maybe we have to uninstall version 1 before we install Coral2?
Is there any possibility of conflict if we keep both? (I’m asking due to the issue I mentioned above)

In fact, you should keep coral1 if you have used it in a project and you want to open it again sometime.

Thanks for the free Baxter EQ.... But, not only is it not good at all, it's flaws in this one as well!

1. There's a preamp kind of signal added by default (with pre off). Seems unintentionally.

2. When I phased out that signal and listened to the pre signal it was just laughable
(as many of your other pre's but this one might take the price).
So low and insignificant pre signal is added that it's just pathetic when you think of the cpu and latency trade of for AA plugins.
That's not all, if you you then add the hi-shelf signal at 18k it actually phase out the pre signal almost completely
It appears that the pre signal is phase inverted and actually subtract signal completely instead of adding.
Isn't it the highest priority here, having things in correct phase???
How many big flaws can you have in a product?
You better hire ONE engineer that actually knows what he's doing then by having random beta testers that seem to miss this simple stuff!

3. The benefits of the low-shelf (boost) is barely noticeable when comparing to a regular vst digital eq. Again, the AA vs regular eq trade off is too minimal.

So WHY should I use this thing? Why release something that's not in the same league as some of your other plugins that actually do something to the sound!

You make me feel fooled with this kind of product. You have done better. Keep doing that and skip the mediocre stuff.

I feel disappointed because I have higher expectations of you guys!

Anyways, good luck with fixing the errors!

it's not phase inverted here (first picture is about the phase, second one about the impulse reponse). By the way, this plugin is using very little cpu here.
Also it has same performances of expensive hardware releases of the same thing.
If you experince phase delay or latency not correctly reported just raise a ticket, because atm we don't have any tickets, on it, even a single one.
About your questions about engineers, we have really many ones but thank you for your application!

Have a nice day!

Not a problem here. Loving this release so far. Cola still gets my preference though - on drums the compressor is just INSANELY GOOD.

Anyhow, the tone of certain users is just ridiculous. Typical haters in disguise.

Testing Coral 2 comp against coral 1. Coral 2 is smoother, action is better. In UM mode it's very similar to DDMF's MDE. Coral 2 strip + BAX AI on mixbus is great!!
