Thanks Sean!

It's 1.0.3v2. I'll test with the new beta and get back to you.

This is one of the most fun and inspiratonal time-based effects I've ever used, with just the right amounts of versatility/range and immediacy.

The pitch effects are a really nice touch and I love the 4 taps overlapping flange thing. Lovely diffusion too, which shouldn't surprise at all.

Wouldn't object to additional modes in the future (SDD/SDE, PCM, 501, etc.) but it's already feeling very much "complete". Sean typically spoils us with surprise dot updates anyway, adding a bunch of cool things we didn't know we wanted (like chaotic chamber/hall!).

Combined with a channel strip plugin on an aux send I don't think anything is lacking.

For example, simply add TDR's excellent Nova (GE preferred). You can sidechain your vocal/instrument/etc to it for broadband ducking, high shelf de-essing, and also have static notches for any annoying frequencies all in one instance. Or simply use it for pre- or post-delay sculpting with mild broadband compression for extra feedback control or overall stability and compactness in a dense mix.

I also really like the bx SSL channels for aux sends - their TMT is useful here for subtle stereo widening, and you can add extra noise and drive, gate, duck, filter, and so on.

If you have Leapwing's Stage One, try going heavy on the width and depth processes post-delay. Massive. Or even on a mono delay, try the mono spread process and pan slightly off center or beside the effected instrument using the center gravity. Slightly bigger and smearier than pure mono but still tidy in a mix.

But why stop there? Invite multiple other fx to the party - occasional trips down maniacally enjoyable rabbit holes never hurt anyone..who was stable and prepared and had a safety limiter on the mixbus.

Get deranged with the ghost mode and throw Cytomic's The Drop in front or behind. Andrew Simper does incredible DSP drive and dirt and his filter models are fantastic - combining those and extra stereo movement potential with bonus audio-rate modulation into ValhallaDelay is skull-melting in the best possible ways.

Big thanks for this one to everyone involved in development, testing, and sound design.

Here is a reverb for consumption.

It is a rich, resonate space suitable for guitars and synths.

If you would like to hear it, it is the first preset in the video below.

I don't use delays much. I have Ableton Echo which is great and I recently bought Echoboy on the $49 sale because I wanted the multi-tap feature with the groove/feel controls allowing some funky delay lines. And I decided "that's it, enough delays, you almost never use them." Plus I kind of like my delays clean, no noise.

Then I tried this for fun on a project and set up a delay with 100% wet that comes in after a moment of silence when everything else has faded away and before the rest comes back - none of the original sound, only the half bar delayed echoes. And I got this dirty, wonky sound that is quite delicious.

So I guess I'll have to have another delay then. Even if it gets used rarely it's worth it for those moments.

The level of support and user engagement I've seen here is also a plus. I've bought a lot of plugins in the last few months. Some big companies have provided great support. Two have provided nothing except an automated acknowledgement of my request and then silence. But the standouts so far that I've seen are Valhalla, Cytomic, Tokyo Dawn, and the guy behind the Max4Live Signal device (via the FB group.)

Now where did I put my bank card?

Here’s a preset I came up with aiming for a tape machine sim. Not sure how tapey it sounds but damn, the width is a piano fixer for sure.
here’s a quick demo without then with width.

<ValhallaDelay pluginVersion="1.0.5" presetName="KA Tape Macheen" Mix="1" DelayStyle="0.19900000095367431641" DelayLSync="0.25" DelayLNote="0.41100001335144042969" DelayL_Ms="0.0070000002160668373108" DelayRSync="0.25" DelayRNote="0.21899999678134918213" DelayR_Ms="0" DelaySpread="0.64300000667572021484" DelaySpacing="0.75" DelayRatio="0.80299997329711914062" RepeatSwell="1" TapA="1" TapB="0" TapC="1" TapD="0" Feedback="0" Width="1" DriveIn="0.45399999618530273438" Age="0.21400000154972076416" Diffusion="0" DiffSize="0.59299999475479125977" LowCut="0" HighCut="0.60199999809265136719" ModRate="0.18500000238418579102" ModDepth="1" Wow="0" Flutter="0" FreqShift="0.19799999892711639404" FreqDetune="1" PitchShift="0.49937498569488525391" PitchDetune="0.55000001192092895508" Mode="0.041666667908430099487" Era="1" Reserved1="0" Reserved2="0" Reserved3="0" Reserved4="0"/>

I've been trying very hard not to buy any more plug-ins. But this thing is sooo good and I've never had so little buyer's remorse

Sorry if this has been covered / answered, but can you mute the dry signal?

Doesn't that just control the effect volume relative to the original dry? I want to know if you can mute the initial dry signal and only have the delay effect.

I'm liking the Vdelay. It makes it easy to get a subtle ambiance that adds a natural sounding richness to the acoustic music I do.

Turn the Mix knob to 100% and you're there.

Exactly. If you are using ValhallaDelay on a send (ALWAYS a good idea!), then set Mix to 100%, and click the word "MIX" above the Mix knob to lock the mix knob into position while browsing through presets.
