you got that right. that is one haunting piece of work all around. i can remember that crazy **** at the end with kinsky/aguirre drifting down the river with the monkeys. the music just has to not mess that up. and it does not.

Yeah. Amazing. I think Herzog's best is "Stroszek"

Actually, the James Bond theme is from Monty Norman. But it's John Barry's big band arrangement that made it popular of course.

Besides anything Angelo Badalamenti or Alberto Iglesias (both great soundtrack composers imo), I really like the soundtrack of Wong Kar-Wai's "2046"
