There are various different models and you have to see what you're getting and what you're not, before leaping to conclusions.

In my experience as soon as you argue for non exclusive, you are shown the door. However, everyone I've ever written for has put a lot of money into the recordings, so it's understandable that they would want to keep the tracks exclusive. If track costs up to £2K to produce, you can be sure that the library wants to sell as many licences as they can, in order to get their money back.

Having said that, if you have paid for the recordings, it makes sense to get an upfront payment, even if it is recoupable, so that once you've been paid for your time, they have only just broken even.

Here for the gear

Hello, I just read this post and I wanted to understand something more about Music Libraries, Is there any difference between (for example) PremiumBeat and Killer Tracks? Does Killer Tracks pay upfront? or is like PremiumBeat? I mean do they pay you anytime someone buys your track?

Thanks so much.

Is this one of those "spring for the 'lifetime' membership" as the most feasible option? I'm hesitant with paid sites, as a lot of others are.

I have never used them myself but from what I've heard, most people just join for 2 weeks or a month and gather info during that time.

One thing to keep in mind is that I believe a lot of good libraries gets bad reviews on that site, because people feel that getting a rejection = poor library.
