Where are some good places to findout about games in the early stages of development?

One piece of advice that was given to me was by a TV composer, who suggested I find greenlit TV shows, write music for that show and pitch it to them. The place he suggested was best to find out about them was with a broadcast magazine subscription (shame it's £20 a month.. )

However I am leaning towards specialising in game music and already have some experience writing music for games and game trailers. It seems like finding out about video games early in development is trickier (or maybe there is something I don't know yet).

I sometimes look through Steam Greenlight, but that is generally for games that are so far along that they will already have a composer (and trailer).

Developer's websites sometimes have information, but again they usually don't reveal a game until it's already too far along.

I am subscribed to some game developer communities (like on Reddit), most are hobbyists though.

I'm confident that my music would match really well with a game somewhere and I'm confident in the production quality that I want to pitch to bigger indie developers who can give me secure work if successful.

I already do some networking in real life, but I'm interested in finding some people online.

Cheers!

GDC in SF is a great place to go if your in california, happens once a year. It is kind of, i don't know, somewhat depressing though ... lot of stuff going on and the indie developers are very hungry. Anyway you can talk with the large companies, see what they are working on sometimes. Also if you want to do music work for indie's they are all over the place struggling and hustling.

I would also like to know, especially for the one who is not in California. In many Facebook groups/forums, when people announce their games, it's already too late (or I don't know right forums/groups).

There's a lot of activity in user groups where you can see things in development, one that is real nice is the unit3d site forums. In those forums people are actually making stuff, but are often in the thick of it and looking for solid answers. There's also job posting and new projects area's for most of the forums (i.e. unity, wwise, etc ...).

I think any game can be revealed when it is completely ready to play on the system. But there is a various online way by which we can get to know the newly launch video game. As we know that now a day people used to spend their most of the time on the internet and it is true that it is very easy and convenient to have the things online. For me also background music plays an important role I think it is one of the reasons that make a game playable. I also used to play a video game but I used to play on the PC. PC is quite comfortable to support any type of game with its music. As we can play any type of video game in it as compared to the other platform. Most of the time I used to play an action-adventure video game called Grand theft auto 5, in this a player can do a lot many things while playing a game like doing robbery in store, doing experiment with the vehicles, etc. One can check this to have the latest series of the video game. Playing video game for me is like refreshing yourself from the stress. One can also extract more fun and entertainment by playing a video game in a multiplayer mode with friends.
