Looks like Quad-Core, 2012 model Mac Mini is back in the U.S. Apple Store.

It's a sweet personal studio computer.
Upgradable (16 GB RAM, two internal SSD drives), and very powerful.
Cubase 8 runs like a champ on this machine.

I wonder if they will eventually go back to a larger, non-cylindrical Mac Pro design (a new cheese grater, or something similar to their older models) ?

Update 11:30 PM PT: The 2012 quad-core Mac mini appears to have disappeared from the Apple Online Store for the time being. It is unclear if it will officially return or if its appearance was a bug.

It was an error. Apple would never ship a new computer with an old OSX (Mavericks). It probably was a refurb that got accidentally uploaded to the wrong Mac webstore.
