So what do you guys think of the new Licensing Plan that PT is dropping on users this month?

It's f**ked that's what I think! So $600 a year so you can theoretically upgrade and get access to support which you never use....which means realistically version upgrades from now on will be $600.

Last month, an upgrade from HD9 to HD11 was $999 and from HD10 to HD11 was $599 and neither included support or future upgrades.

Now, upgrades from either HD9 or HD10 to HD11 is $599 and it includes support and upgrades for a year. Actually, to the end of March 2016 if you activate before the end of the year.

Non-HD was $299 - $499, now it's $199. Same support and updates included.

Future upgrades will likely require you to remain on support (which is less expensive than the software upgrades have been historically) but I think this is where most people are a bit alarmed. It's no different than Avid's Media Composer customers or Adobe's CS customers but likely a new model for most audio guys. For the professional, the benefits are fairly easy to see. Always have support, always have the latest version/ features available, and pay less annually than being nickel and dimed for new releases and support calls. It may be a different story for someone that's not making a living from audio but for the PT native user, it equates to less than $17/mo.
