Try this:
  1. In YouTube, turn on CC (closed captions)
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Turn on Auto-translate
  4. Choose your language.

Won't be "perfect", but might get the ideas across.

Oh wow I didn't know you could auto-translate on youtube. That is nuts!

*YOUTUBE - 3D Upgrade Overview*
See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=busgMGkez7g

The 3D essence of which now translated into the Queen's Language:

0:26 - The new 3D card in blue.

0:57 - The new DSP module.

1:12 - Current DSP for 2D card uses only 384 KBy RAM.

1:25 - *3D's DSP sports 32 MBy on-DSP chip RAM, 1 GBy RAM, 4 GBy SSD.*

1:36 - Plus *the new FPGA DSP chip has 3.5x the compute capacity* of
the previous 2D's TigerSHARC chip.

FPGA - Field-Programmable Gate Array
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field-...ble_gate_array

2:00 - The 3D card sports a new *clock with 12x less jitter* than
previously,
and new power management.
2:35 - A *new MADI I/O card* sports 64 optical and 64 copper ins and outs.

MADI - Multichannel Audio Digital Interface (a.k.a. AES10)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MADI

2:55 - More, different, rear-panel I/O cards are in the works.

3:10 - Also a *new USB-C connector.*

3:20 - Plus

*2 MH-Link Gigabit Ethernet LAN connectors for 128 channels at 192
kHz plus clock signal over up to 100 meters (330 ft) over CAT-5
cable with full ground isolation.*

4:08 - Amazingly,

*the other end of the MH-Link cable can be plugged into the
computer's LAN Networking port, for 128 channels at 192 kHz.*

4:23 -

*With MH-Link there are no more aggregate devices as the computer
from now on only sees one device, regardless of how many boxes
are plugged together.*

4:38 - All boxes plugged together via MH-Link are synched together as
of the first sample thanks to MH-Link's built-in clock signal.

4:54 -
*All conjoined boxes share their individual DSP power over MH-Link
to be used by one box, or shared by all boxes.*

6:22 - Then there's the usual SMPTE, WordClock, MIDI and D-Sub connectors.

6:00 - I also have *an old ULN-2* that I put a 3D board into and a MADI I/O
board and back-plate and* now it has optical, copper 64 MADI
channels*,
plus ADAT and USB-C and the usual analog I/O.

5:22 - Surprisingly we also have
*an old 2882 in a heavy steel casing and with a 3D card here and
the MADI I/O card* and back-plate we again have
optical, copper 64 MADI channels, plus ADAT and USB-C, this time
also
with AES-EBU thanks to the I/O card and back-plate.

7:12 -
*All products also receive a sound quality improvement due to
improved clocking, power supply management and power isolation.*

7:16 - The greatest improvement in sound goes to the MIO 2882 + 3D card that
now sports a sound quality similar to the ULN-8 + 2D (except that
of
course the ULN-8 + 3D card now sounds even better!) due to the
improved
clocking, improved power management and ground isolation.
7:56 - In the next few days I'll be back with BJ to wade through the
technical
details and what the FPGA chip means for DSP.

It's amazing that 2882+DSP's are approaching 20 years old, and STILL get better than they were new. Truly classic gear in the digital domain.

They decoupled the digital from the analog in smart ways in order to allow this digital upgrade to keep reusing the analog parts. That's pretty smart and future proof like they say ...

3D Conversion vs symphony ?
I'm pretty sure that yes but shoot them an email. But they've been offering that upgrade path for a long time. This is why I sold and bought a new uln2.

Indeed, upgrading software, drivers etc is one thing and def praiseworthy but this is on a whole diff level from anything anyone else is doing and is such a sustainable, eco-friendly process to boot

This should be a standard question for all interface (and other computer-connected gear really), "Will your box XXX not only be supported soft- and hardware-wise but also actually improving in 15 years time?"

If you check out the YouTube videos above, he mentions installing 3D in a ULN-2.

But seeing is believing.

actually he is showing an uln-2 inclusive 3d card, its the second unit (first uln-8, than uln-2, than 2882).

Oddly enough, MH just got back to me..

I guess using the same converters were changing the clock (which from what I understand can play a significant role) and something about using network IP but the youtube translation wasn't the best going from german to english

Well, I for one, as MUCH as I like the sound of my MIO 2882's have had enough of waiting for something that everybody else and their dogs seems to have implemented one ( similar !) way or another...! Network cabling, USB3, it's all there. Dante, AVB, you name it!
Dudes, anything? ANYTHING that would make me wait another month? Coz I am ready to sell my MIO's and buy an interface that, yes, I will maybe update in another 5 or so years, but one that works now. I need more than 8 channels at once and aggregate devices don't work...
I need sometging more elegant than losing 8 channels if I wanna connect teo or three units.Sorry for my rant. I know MH never said when and what but it feels like a loooooooong time since the development was announced...

I am thinking about other solutions for a while...but honestly...there is no solution as promising as 3D...though it's still a promise)
Just curious...what route do you want to go?
I found nothing as elegant....

If you'd waited a couple of weeks you might have qualified for the $99 3D upgrade.....

Just kidding y'all, lighten up, life's short

Nine years since their last hardware product. Basically a decade since they offered a tangible product that was fully functional with what contemporary computers were offering.

Let's hope a philosophical stance doesn't kill a company that was doing such promising things. The realm of digital recording unfortunately moves faster than this and so many competitors have caught up.

I bought my LIO8 under the belief the upgrade would happen soon. In the meanwhile, I don't feel like I am limping along so now don't really care. But ... it would be nice.

Yeah, I bought 2 LIO8s awhile after they were released. They still work great, sound great, multi-tracking at 88k, using Spectrafoo, no reason to complain. But uhh, many years have gone by since the announcement. Don't really NEED it, but seeing two boxes as one, and more horsepower would be nice.

I don't believe a "philosophical stance" would affect the situation.

I suspect that the fact it has been 9 years since a new tangible product has been introduced, plus MH's long-time commitment to never leave former customers "stranded", are the reasons the effort is taking longer -- they are trying to make sure it is all done "right".

We all know and think it will be nice to gain all the new features coming.

Further, I am hoping it will seat MH at the top of the interface food chain.
